Servant’s Heart of Indy provides Thanksgiving meals to 500 families with the annual Turkey Drive Thru

Each family was provided all the fixings for their Thanksgiving dinner as they drove thru the line. Many volunteers helped make this night a success from loading cars to delivering meals. A total of 515 families received assistance because of the generosity of individuals, companies, and churches.

Each family received a box with green beans, corn, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, cranberries and perishables including rolls, whipped cream, pie and a turkey. Donations such as $1,500 that Servant’s Heart received from the newly-opened Kroger on Thompson Road help to fund the program.

Vehicles wrapped around the parking lot of the Servant’s Heart of Indy during the annual Turkey Drive Thru on Nov. 23, providing Thanksgiving meals to more than 500 families on the Southside of Indianapolis.

Volunteers ranged from all ages and areas of residence. Members of the Beech Grove Fire Department were also on hand to provide support. Bill Boone said this year’s event had more volunteers than before, helping to direct the traffic, organize the food and place it in the cars as the line kept moving.

Servant's Heart of Indy Thanksgiving projects fed 2,044 people.
