About
Servant's Heart of Indy
Our Mission:
To share God’s abundance
and demonstrate Christ’s
love by serving the needs
of families.
Purpose:
Servant’s Heart is a local nonprofit pantry outreach focused on serving the needs of local families. Support for this outreach is comprised of civic groups, churches, corporations, and individual volunteers - all working together to lend a helping hand in our community.
History:
During the 2002 Holiday Season, a group of volunteers
and benefactors carried on a traditional Holiday support drive for local Beech
Grove families. Through the generosity of the community they were able to
provide food, clothing, furniture, toiletries, and gifts for 27 grateful
families, (39 adults and 90 children). While this annual Holiday event has
been very successful in serving some of the less fortunate in our community,
there are literally thousands of individuals and families in Indianapolis and
surrounding communities who, on a daily basis, cannot afford the essentials for
life.
Recognizing the ongoing need, and through the
continued efforts of these volunteers, an opportunity now exists for individuals
and groups to open their hearts in the service of others - by providing the
helping hands that are so critically needed and greatly appreciated.
Servant's Heart of Indy, an outcropping of the Holiday food and clothing drive,
has established a community outreach program to provide year round support for
those struggling to make ends meet.
When you donate food, clothing, furniture, household
items, time or money to Servant's Heart of Indy, you help to ensure that a
single mother can feed her children, a family will have beds and linens in which
to sleep, a senior citizen is able to receive healthful and nourishing meals, a
child has warm clothing to wear, as well as additional "basis necessities" that
are lacking in so many local households.
If you would like to volunteer or have items that you
would like to donate, please contact us.
